[7] Lorenzen Appointed to NPCC

Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber appointed Pendleton attorney and rancher Henry Lorenzen on May 16 to serve on the Northwest Power and Conservation Council, subject to Senate confirmation. Lorenzen will replace Joan Dukes, who was appointed in 2004 by then-Gov. Kulongoski, and currently serves as the Council's chair.

Lorenzen has a B.S. in electrical engineering from Oregon State University, an M.B.A. from Harvard, and a J.D. from Lewis and Clark's Northwestern School of Law. He served as an assistant U.S. attorney from 1977 to 1983, and manages a 4,000-acre family wheat farming operation. He has served on the Oregon Environmental Quality and Fish and Wildlife commissions.

Lorenzen was scheduled to began his Council duties on Aug. 1. -Rick Adair
